ED-itorial Notes đź’
In moments of uncertainty, division, and strain across our society, families raising children with disabilities, neurodivergence, and developmental support needs often carry more than their share of the weight. Systems feel harder to navigate. Resources feel more fragile. The future can feel more uncertain.
At PCDA, we hold a simple truth:
They are all our children.
Every child belongs to all of us. Every family deserves support. Every young person deserves to grow in a world that sees their worth, their capacity, and their right to belonging.
Our work exists because families should not have to navigate complexity and stress alone. We are part of the social safety net not just in structure, but in spirit. We provide stability when things feel unsteady. We offer community when families feel isolated. We build relationships that protect dignity, voice, and connection.
At PCDA, we provide multidisciplinary therapies and developmental supports for children and families, including those with Autism, disabilities, and complex support needs. Through individual and group services, family partnership, and community-based care, we help young people build communication, regulation, relationships, and self-advocacy skills that support meaningful participation in their lives.
Supporting children with disabilities, neurodivergence, and developmental support needs is not just clinical work. It is relational work. It is justice work. It is community work. It is the daily practice of ensuring that young people grow up knowing they matter, that their voices matter, and that their lives are not defined by barriers, but by possibility.
In a society that often feels fragmented, our work is to build the village.
To strengthen families.
To protect childhood.
To create spaces where difference and behavior are not something to manage, but something to understand.
This is what community looks like.
This is what responsibility looks like.
This is what care looks like in action.
At PCDA, we are here for all children. All families. All futures.
At PCDA, the heart of our work is found in the stories of the families we serve. Each moment of growth, connection, and triumph reminds us why we do this work—and we want to share those moments with our broader community.
We are inviting families to contribute to our The Heart of PCDA campaign by sharing personal stories of experiences with our programs or community. Your story could highlight:
A breakthrough moment in therapy
A family tradition supported by PCDA programs
How your child has grown in confidence, independence, or communication
Sharing your story is simple, and every submission helps inspire other families, educators, and supporters. By celebrating these real experiences, we can showcase the profound impact of PCDA’s work and the strength of the community that surrounds our children.

A Year of Growth and Connection: PCDA’s 2025 Impact
2025 was a year of meaningful progress for PCDA, marked by moments of growth, connection, and achievement for the families we serve. Thanks to the dedication of our staff, the trust of our families, and the generosity of our supporters, we were able to continue providing essential services and expand the reach of our programs.
Highlights from 2025 include:
Over 16,000 clinical hours delivered across all programs
Supported 500+ families in Greater LA County
Expanded access to trauma-informed supports and parent guidance programs
Increased participation in social skills groups, teen programs, and young adult services
Each number tells a story, but behind every statistic is a child, a family, and a team committed to growth and belonging. Every session, every interaction, and every donation helps turn challenges into achievements and strengthens the fabric of our PCDA community.
The work continues, and your support makes it possible. Your ongoing generosity ensures that PCDA can continue providing individualized care, relationships, and resources that make all the difference for the families we serve.
At PCDA, we know that mealtime is about far more than nutrition—it’s a crucial part of a child’s development, independence, and confidence. Our Interdisciplinary Nutrition & Feeding Teams work closely with families to address challenges such as picky eating, sensory sensitivities, and difficulty with self-feeding.
Our approach combines individualized strategies, hands-on coaching, and a focus on the child’s developmental strengths. Families receive guidance tailored to their child’s unique needs, helping children explore new foods, build self-regulation skills, and enjoy mealtimes with confidence.
The impact extends beyond the plate. When children make progress in feeding, it supports communication, emotional regulation, and family connection. Every small victory at the table can translate into bigger wins in daily life.
Whether it’s introducing a new food, mastering self-feeding, or developing a positive mealtime routine, our Nutrition & Feeding Teams are here to guide families every step of the way.
At PCDA, the lasting impact of our programs depends on consistent support from donors who believe in our mission. The Circle of Care is our recurring giving program, designed to provide steady, reliable resources that help children and families thrive throughout the year.
By joining the Circle, you become part of a community that ensures:
Children receive ongoing, individualized services without interruption
Families continue to access guidance, coaching, and resources when they need it most
Programs can grow and innovate to meet emerging needs in our community
Monthly gifts of any size create stability that allows our clinicians and staff to focus on what matters most—building on each child’s strengths and supporting families every step of the way. Your recurring support helps PCDA plan for the future, expand programs, and ensure every family has access to the care they need.
Become a Circle of Care supporter today and make a lasting difference for the children and families we serve. If you have any questions, please contact Development Manager Kristine Seranio at development@pcdateam.org.
